Google's Project Tango: 3D mapping on a smartphone

Google has unveiled a prototype smartphone fitted with 3D sensors as part of its Project Tango - which aims to give mobile devices a human-scale understanding of space and motion.

The phone emits pulses of infrared light and records how it is reflected back allowing it to build a detailed depth map of the surrounding space.

BBC Click's Spencer Kelly reports.
