Missing Malaysia plane: Search area widened

Missing Malaysia plane: Search area widened

Rescue teams looking for a missing Malaysia Airlines flight have widened their search area, the Malaysian transport minister says.

They are looking into the possibility that the plane had turned back, Hishammuddin Hussein said.
Flight MH370 disappeared more than 24 hours ago with 239 people on board.
Vietnamese navy ships have reached two oil slicks which were spotted earlier, but found nothing. Investigators are checking the entire passenger manifest.
Mr Hussein told a press conference that at least four names on the passenger list were "suspect" but the whole manifest was being investigated.
It follows reports that two of the passengers listed as travelling - an Italian and an Austrian - were not actually on the flight.
They both reportedly had their passports stolen in Thailand in recent years.
He said FBI officers had joined the investigation and that all angles were being examined.
"The main thing here for me and for the families concerned is that we find the aircraft," he added.
